Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda
Tuesday, October 20, 2020

Once again, A Level and AS students at Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda have reaped the rewards of all their hard work after notching up more excellent grades this year. Every single student entered gained at least one Level 3 qualification, with the school's wider average points score nearly doubling.

We were thrilled to receive the news that Year 10 talent, Chloe Wilson has been chosen to attend the Connie Fisher Academy for Musical Theatre. Chloe applied and auditioned for the Academy and she has recently heard that she was successful and will attend the summer academy which takes place from the 3rd to the 10th of August. She auditioned with ‘Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again' from Phantom of the Opera.

Warm congratulations to talented Year 10 swimmer Dafydd Carter, on winning the Urdd Aquathon at a meet in July.

We enjoyed a feast of talent at our recent concert, celebrating our successes at this year's Eisteddfod. Many thanks to our pupils for sharing their talents once again, and to their families for their support.

A huge thank you to our team on the PSA. At our recent summer concert to celebrate the phenomenal success at this year's National Urdd Eisteddfod, Sara Connolly organised the team to provide refreshments as a thank you to all parents and supporters of pupils competing in Boncath. The provision was second to none, as is usual in all aspects of Cymer's success!

A group of Year 8 pupils took part in an exciting Science conference held at Glamorgan University this week.

Warmest congratulations go to Yr 10 pupil Rhys Roberts on being chosen to represent Great Britain in the Target Rifle Squad - what a fantastic achievement!
