Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda senior rugby team hosted Omagh School Academy on the 14th of November 2013. The game was highly competitive with Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda running out winners of the game by 20 points to 7. It was a fantastic experience for pupils to enjoy the competitve nature of international rugby whilst also respecting and understanding each others culture and traditions. Both teams were a credit to their recognised establishements and country. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to visit Ulser, Ireland in the near future to challenge Omagh Academy on their turf.

The eco-council is eager for the school to take part and try to reduce our use of energy. Please be responsible and try to make better use of electricity, please switch off lights when you can and switch off any un-use technology. Encourage others also to take part in switch off fortnight and do our part for the earth. Switch off fortnight is the 18th of November until the 2nd of December.

Congratulations to both Corey Shepphard & Jacob Lloyd for their selection to represent the Welsh Academicals rugby squad 2013/14. This is a fantastic achievement in recognition of the high standard of rugby both players have played whilst representing Ysgol Y Cymer in the Division 1 South East Wales Schools Saturday league so far this year.

Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda was so pleased to welcome back Dr Jishu Dev from Bangladesh and Mr Wil Morus Jones, founder of the charity BanglaCymru this week in school.

The newly elected members of the School Council met with the Head this week to discuss issues affecting pupils' lives. An action plan will be implemented based on the views of pupils at Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda.

It was an honour to introduce our new Key Stage 3 and 4 prefects and our Head Prefects for the upcoming academic year during or annual Harvest Assembly on Friday 25.10.13.

Warmest congratulations are extended to Amelia Davies and Caitlin Davies, both of Year 9, on securing places in the Under 14 Glamorgan Valleys Netball Squad - an excellent achievement
