lSixth Form students at Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda are once again celebrating following the publication of this year’s A-Level and AS Level results, with Year 13 students securing some of the best results in our school’s history.

In total 24 subjects offered to Sixth Form students succeeded in ensuring 100% pass rate, an achievement that has secured the required grades for every student to continue their next step of their learning pathways – through university courses, apprenticeships or work placements. All students who applied for university places this year have received offers from their universities of choice, which is testament to our students’ commitment and positive work ethic during their studies.

Our school community is extremely proud of every single individual result, as each one reflects all our students’ individual abilities and varied talents as well as the commitment and support shown by all staff.

For Cerys Swain, who was awarded a staggering 3 A* grades in Music, French and Mathematics, her results mark the end of a very successful seven years at Cwm Rhondda, and also the beginning of an exciting journey as she embarks on a Joint Honours degree in French and Music at Liverpool University. “I can’t believe my results. I was so nervous opening the envelope, and I really wasn’t expecting to do so well! I’m looking forward to the next chapter in Liverpool and I would like to thank everybody at school for all their support over the years.”

10% of all Year 13 students achieved 3 A*/A grades – the highest percentage in the school’s history, with Cerys Swain, Ellie Smith, Shannon Stone, Ewan Headford and Casey Nash all securing at least 1 A* grade each – fantastic!

Students who have applied for university placements this year will embark on a wide variety of courses in September, from Medicine and Dentistry to Midwifery and History in universities across the United Kingdom.

For Head, Rhian Morgan Ellis, these results also recognise the successful collaboration on which the school’s standards have been built. “Our pupils once again, with the guidance and tireless support of staff and parents, have achieved and realised their potential. I am so proud of our school community, a community where every member works together to ensure the wellbeing and success of the young people of Cwm Rhondda. It’s a privilege to be a member of the Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda family. Huge congratulations and every best wish for the future to all our pupils”

Chair of Governors, Mr John Bryant added “I am absolutely delighted but not surprised with our A level results. I am privileged to be Chair of this school and to be aware of the hard and inspirational work of the teachers and support staff which is why I am not surprised. On behalf of the Governing Body of Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda I would like to wish every success to our pupils as they take the next step in their lives.”

We extend our warmest congratulations to every student and wish them the very best as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
