We were so pleased to be able to welcome our Year 11 students back to school, at the end of a challenging and uncertain period for them, to celebrate their achievments with them.

This set of results reflect the diligence and commitment of our students, not only during the past year, but during their time at Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda. We thank them for their company and their contribution during their time at school, and look forward to welcoming them back as Sixth Form students in September.

As well as congratulating all out Year 11 pupils, Acting Head, Sara Elise Jones, also acknowledges the successful collaboration between school and families - “We thank our whole school community – staff, parents and families for their support and co-operation, both of which have contributed greatly to the success of our pupils and are the foundations of our school community.”

In particular today, our thoughts are with Kian’s parents, sister, family and friends – a student whose loss we feel greatly, and one who we hold close today.

We are very proud of all our Year 11 students and their achievments – sincere congratulations to everybody.

Despite the uncertainty faced during the last six months, staff at Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda was so pleased and proud to be able to welcome our Sixth Form students back to school following the publication of this year’s A-Level and AS Level results. Today’s celebrations at Cwm Rhondda were a little different than usual, but we were so pleased to celebrate their achievements, effort and resilience with them - during their time at school, and during the past six months in particular.

Students who have applied for university placements this year will embark on a wide variety of courses in September, from Mathematics and Law, to Pharmacy and History, in universities across the United Kingdom. Others will be venturing to the world of work or commencing apprenticeships.

FFor Acting Head, Sara Elise Jones, these results not only testify to the students’ hard work and determination to succeed, but also recognise the successful collaboration between school and our families, on which the school’s standards have been built. “Our pupils, with the guidance and tireless support of staff and parents, have succeeded, despite the recent challenges this cohort of students have faced. These set of results come at the end of a very unique and unusual school year for everyone. I am so proud of our school community, a community where every member works together to ensure the wellbeing and success of the young people of Cwm Rhondda, even during the most turbulent of times. Genuine thanks to all the pupils for their contributions during their time in school and we wish them well for the future. The doors of Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda will always be open to them and to their families. We shall follow our pupils’ successes as they move on to the next step on their pathway and will be there to offer support to any student should they require it. Congratulations and every best wish for the future to all our pupils.”

Chair of Governors, Mr John Bryant added ““Congratulations to every student on their success. I am privileged to be Chair of this school and to be aware of the hard and inspirational work of the teachers and support staff, especially during recent months. On behalf of the Governing Body of Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda I would like to wish every success to our pupils as they take the next step in their lives.”

We extend our warmest congratulations to every student, thank them for every contribution, and wish them the very best as they begin the next exciting chapter of their lives.
