We are a successful, creative and energetic Department. We emphasize the importance of developing the confidence and skills of all our pupils in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
Welsh heritage and culture are central to our vision for developing the curriculum “Cymreig”, emphasizing an understanding of Literature and Language. We focus on enhancing our pupils’ knowledge of how language communicates, while fostering an understanding and appreciation of how meaning is conveyed in Literature.
To further the school’s core aims, that every child reaches their full potential, the Department consistently encourages aspects of cross-curricular teaching and learning and offers a range of cross-curricular activities.
English Across The Key Stages
Key Stage 3 English offers pupils exciting opportunities to extend their experiences of reading, writing and oracy. Teaching is thematic and addresses the core aims of the curriculum.
English at Key Stage 4 is a vibrant subject, encompassing a range of skills and experiences that help the individual prepare for success in adulthood.
At Key Stage 5, our focus is on Literature and academic rigour. Many of our students go on to study English at University.
